Had dinner at Tonchin, a Michelin ramen restaurant in New York. The restaurant is located around the Times Square area, but the entrance isn’t very obvious, so you need to look carefully for the unit number when walking past. Once inside, the restaurant is quite dark and moderately noisy, but still comfortable enough to have a conversation. We ordered the Smoked Dashi Ramen and Spicy Tan Tan Ramen, both recommended by the staff. I found the ramen to be slightly heavy in flavour, but I did enjoy it. The broth was rich and satisfying, especially if you like ramen with a stronger taste. By around 8pm, the restaurant was packed with customers even though it was a weekday. We saw quite a lot of people coming in for dinner with their colleagues after work. I also noticed a group of Japanese customers having a business dinner there, which perhaps restaurant serves quite authentic Japanese food flavours. In short, I enjoyed the ramen and wouldn’t mind coming back if I happen to be in New York again.

Was craving Ramen and found this absolute gem. The most incredible food and very attentive service. Considering coming back tomorrow while still in NYC haha!! My fiancé had the Miso Ginger ramen and loved it. Perfect amount of spicy with incredible flavour. I had the classic tonkotsu ramen and it was SO good. The chashu pork was so soft and flavourful. 10/10. We also split gyozas as an appy and they were equally as amazing.

I’ve been on what can only be described as a full-time quest for a good vegetarian ramen across the city. It’s surprisingly difficult to find one that actually delivers. The vegan ramen here finally broke the losing streak—rich, satisfying, and absolutely worth the hunt. Bonus points for the cozy nighttime ambiance, which makes slurping noodles feel like an event.

Loved everything about tonchin! This was a highlight of our trip - everything from the chicken wings to the ramen was AMAZING. All bowls we got from the tantanmen (perfectly spicy!) to the tonkotsu were top notch. Service was quick and efficient. The vibe of the place is hip and upbeat. Love this place and can't recommend it more!

We shared everything family style at Tonchin New York, and every dish was fantastic. It’s easy to see why this restaurant has been recognized in the Michelin Guide since 2019. For appetizers, we had the Original Tonchin Maguro, Tebasaki Curry + Cheese Wings, Gyoza, and the Unagi Rice Ball. Everything was packed with flavor and perfect for sharing. For our main course, we ordered the Tonchin Classic Tokyo Tonkotsu Ramen, which was rich, comforting, and exactly what you want from a great bowl of ramen. We finished with the Kaki-Gori Mango Shaved Ice and Tokyo Banana, and honestly, the desserts stole the show. I was completely stuffed, but I couldn’t stop eating the mango shaved ice—it was so refreshing and the perfect way to end the meal. Every dish was amazing, and this is definitely a spot I’d come back to again.
